MotherMassage ®: Massage During Pregnancy Home Study Course

This course is designed for those massage practitioners and bodyworkers who want to develop a basic understanding of the physiological, emotional and psychological changes of pregnancy. If you massage pregnant women occasionally, or if you are unable to attend a hands-on workshop, this home study course will provide you with a general overview how to massage your pregnant clients most effectively.

After completing the MotherMassage ® Home Study Course, you will:

  • learn the somatic and emotional changes of pregnancy
  • learn how the pregnant woman and developing fetus grow each trimester
  • recognize the contraindications and precautions of prenatal massage therapy
  • learn the contraindicated acupuncture and reflexology points
  • have a wider understanding of prenatal massage techniques
  • recognize symptoms of high risk pregnancies
  • learn how to work with clients confined to bed rest.

Upon acceptance of your application, you will receive:

  • a copy of MotherMassage: A Handbook For Relieving the Discomforts of Pregnancy (Stillerman, Dell, 1992.) Retail price: $17.00.
  • a reprint of MotherMassage: Touch For Happier, Healthier Pregnancies, (Stillerman, Massage Magazine, Issue 87, Sept/Oct, 2000).
  • MotherMassage ®: Massage During Pregnancy home study handbook
  • A bibliography of suggested reading
  • A home study course exam
  • MotherMassage ®: Massage During Pregnancy professional certification course schedule.

The cost of this program is $99.50 plus $4.95 shipping and handling, totalling $104.45. Checks or money orders only.

After studying and reviewing the enclosed materials, participants must pass the exam with a score of at least 80%. If you fail the exam and would like to take it again, there will be an additional $25.00 charge.

This home study course has been approved for eight (8) contact hours by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy and the N.C.B.T.M.B. (Category A).

As with most home study programs, this course does not include hands-on instruction. The certificate you receive upon completion is not to be construed as granting professional recognition or status as a prenatal massage specialist.

If you are interested in pursuing professional certification, it is recommended that you enroll in the MotherMassage ®: Massage During Pregnancy certification program where you will be instructed in prenatal, labor support and postpartum recovery massage therapy techniques.
