|CoRehab – Diastasis Repair
Can't lose that maternal tummy pouch or guy gut? Getting ready to have your baby? Suffering from back pain? You may have a diastasis that is causing these problems.
What is a "diastasis"?
The topmost abdominal muscle, the rectus abdominis, is connected in the middle of the body by a band of connective tissue called the linea alba. During pregnancy, or as a result of forward pressure (i.e. crunches, Pilates 100"s), this connective tissue stretches and weakens. This separation is called a diastasis (di-"a-sta-sis) recti. The abdominal muscles that attach to it, predominantly the rectus abdominis, also stretch laterally and weaken.
What happens if I have a diastasis?
The function of the rectus abdominis is forward bending, spinal stability, and abdominal (organ) support. When this muscle weakens, all the other abdominal muscles that attach to it (via the linea alba) also weaken. This often results in core structural weakness, lower back pain, pelvic instability, digestive disorders, and in extreme cases with abdominal trauma, ventral or umbilical hernias. During pregnancy, this core weakness makes it harder to push effectively during labor and chronic back pain may continue during postpartum recovery and beyond.
What can I do about this?
As a licensee of the Tupler Technique ®
, I can work with you to maintain core structural integrity during your pregnancy ("CoRehab"), in preparation for labor ("Tupler Technique ® Perfect Pushing" ®), during postpartum recovery (regardless of how long ago you were pregnant) ("Diastasis Rehab Lose your Mummy Tummy" ®, before or after abdominal surgery or a tummy tuck ("Ab Rehab" ®), and if you are a man with a diastasis ("Diastasis Rehab Say Good Bye to Your Gut Guys" ®).
The course is made up of three individual sessions over a 6 week period. Group seminars are also available. We will meet once every two weeks. However, during that 6 week period, you will be exercising three times a day, for less than 10 minutes each session, with dramatic results. Call +1-718-832-6575 or email me for more details.
